For the Tofu:
- 1 block 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oil for frying
For the Orange Sauce:
- ½ cup orange juice freshly squeezed if you’re feeling fancy
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or agave
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 tsp sriracha optional, but recommended
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water for thickening
- Zest of 1 orange
Toss tofu cubes in soy sauce, then coat with cornstarch for extra crispiness.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, then cook tofu until golden brown on all sides.
In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, maple syrup, vinegar, ginger, garlic, and sriracha.
Pour sauce into the skillet with the crispy tofu.
Stir in cornstarch slurry and simmer until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
Add orange zest for extra flavor and toss everything to coat.
Remove from heat and serve over rice or noodles.
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for that fancy touch.
