Ingredients
  

For the Tofu

  • 1 block 14 oz extra-firm tofu (pressed)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

For the Lemon Pepper Coating

  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp maple syrup optional

Instructions
 

Prep the Tofu

  • Press the tofu for 10 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  • Cut it into cubes or slices.

Coat & Bake/Pan-Fry

  • Toss tofu with cornstarch, olive oil, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes or pan-fry until golden.

Make the Lemon Pepper Coating

  • In a bowl, mix lemon zest, juice, black pepper, olive oil, and maple syrup.

Toss & Serve

  • Coat the crispy tofu with the lemon-pepper mixture.
